Born and raised in New Zealand and Australia, Piper Grant has had the best of both worlds. As a finalist in three Play It Strange New Zealand songwriting competitions and runner-up in the Youthtown Songwriting Competition in 2023, Piper continues to establish herself as an emerging singer-songwriter and recording artist. After breaking into the music scene on the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast of Australia from 2019 to 2022, Piper released her debut single, “The Boy Who Doesn’t Exist,” in 2021. Two singles followed, “Just What I Need” and “I Don’t Talk to No One.” During this time, Piper received vocal coaching from a Juilliard-trained vocal coach, Liz Letscher Meyer. During this time, Piper performed alongside musicians such as Sofia Isella and appeared live at large-scale events, including the Bay of Islands Country Rock Festival and JOYFEST.

After a six-month break from publicly sharing music, Piper released her pre-EP single and most successful song to date, “The Stories.” Singing about the simple values she was raised with, Piper released a further four tracks on the Patience is a Virtue EP. The EP was her last release of 2022. 

During a brief visit to the Sunshine Coast of Australia to celebrate her sixteenth birthday in February 2023, Piper wrote the track “Austin, Texas.” This track ultimately kicked off the process of writing, recording, and releasing the Bigger Than Texas album. Piper worked closely with producer Noah Page to refine and complete the album. Releasing the pre-album single, “A Letter To You,” in August was all in preparation for the album that was to come in early September.

Another hiatus from music was experienced as Piper deliberately distanced herself from music to focus on moving to the United States independently in 2023, graduating from an American high school after 10 years of being homeschooled, and attending the first year of university. After focusing on academics and relocating to the United States, Piper has returned her focus to songwriting and live performance.
